 A novel of political suspense set  in the year 2009, that places the reader inside a covert 'bizwar' that might well have been taken from today's  (and tomorrow's) headlines of political scandals and dirty covert corporate/ lobbying activities. Such activities have a long and infamous American and Canadian history. As the perhaps not-so-fictional storyline in this novel relates, decades ago a seriously threatened American military aircraft manufacturing industry covertly established and funded a secret operation that devastated Canada's military aircraft industry in general, and in particular its worlds' best Avro Arrow fighter-interceptor program. The Arrow's performance promised to surpass anything the American Air Force and its suppliers had, either in the air or on the drawing  boards.

The successor to that early covert group is now engaged is attempting to preserve and expand its HMO and PPO clients' far  more expensive, and much less inclusive, for-profit healthcare  programs by undermining and destroying their chief competitor, universal Medicare, represented in large part by the Canadian, government-funded universal Medicare system that has successfully served virtually all of its citizens at a fraction of the cost on a per capita basis.

How to sabotage the Canadian Healthcare system

There are numerous ways in which the Canadian healthcare system can be sabotaged. They include:

1. cutting back on hospital beds, close some hospitals altogether, offer services such as pediatric heart and other highly specialized services at unrealistic distances from the patients' parents, even closing facilities in one metropolitan area such as Ottawa, and forcing patients and their parents to travel, say, 400 kilometers away, say in Toronto:
2. introduce new healthcare fees, but only after promising not to:
3. introduce new healthcare fees in such a heavy-handed way that citizens are alienated from  the process, and infuriated by the manner of such an introduction
4. drop coverage for services utilized by a huge percentage of the population (say, eye examinations) and delivered by properly trained professionals (say, optometrists)
5. avoid cutting certain services delivered by physicians in areas where their training and expertise is, to say the least, open to serious question (say, so-called 'psychotherapy' delivered by family physicians with a minimum of academic training in their professional curriculum)
6. allow for the establishment of privately run medical clinics offering services that could be provided in public facilities, but are not permitted by the government to run outside of nine to five.
7. prepare the Canadian population for U.S. style health care by maintaining long waiting periods when a greater supply of professionals and equipment could shorten the wait.
8. and so on...
